The
Packers gave up an NFL-record 4,796 passing yards during the
2011-2012 regular season; however, their defense lead the league with
31 interceptions.
In the playoffs, NFL quarterbacks become more stingy with the ball – meaning, they tend to avoid throwing interceptions, and if Eli Manning avoids throwing interceptions, this Giants' offense has the opportunity to carve up the Packers - knocking them out of the playoffs,
On the other side of the spectrum, the Packers have used and played with the same defense for the entire season, and have only given up one game this year - which was to the Kansas City Chiefs, where Kyle Orton threw for 299 yards without an interception. This loss was the only game in which the Packers failed to create a turnover.
Admittedly, the Packers' defense still has issues, as they consistently give up too many yards as well as easy touchdowns, and with the running game of the Giants, as well as the abilities of the Giants' passing game lead by Eli Manning, this showdown could be as close as the previous game was this year (38-35 GB win), or the NY Giants may get it right this time and move closer to the Super Bowl.
