We all know that Jerry Jones is the Dallas Cowboys; we understand the fact that it is his team and he makes the decisions, from bottom to top, Jerry Jones wants to be in control. No problem there, no issues; after all, it is his team.
Now that Jason Garrett has been named the head coach, Jones made a comment at the press conference that "No coach, player, or personnel will be a member of the Dallas Cowboys, unless (Garrett) approves." This is the same owner that has been blamed, regardless of how it actually happened, for running off coach Jimmy Johnson, and more recently, coach Bill Parcells.
If there was a lesson to be learned, I hope Mr. Jones has learned it, if Jerry Jones' eyes needed to be opened, I hope that he is fully awake now; however, I believe that each move Jerry Jones has made was calculated, thought out, and rehashed with his team (Team Jones, consisting of his sons/daughter).
This is a new era in Dallas, as well as the The 8th head coach in franchise history, and I believe that Jason Garrett nailed his audition as interim head coach; he proved his abilities as a leader and has proven that he can control an offense, and now an entire team.
No disrespect to Wade Phillips, whom I think is a better defensive coach than a head coach, but Garrett (back-up QB for the Cowboys from 1993-1999) has displayed that he is a winner and that he has the moxie and personality needed to lead men; in addition, he won the final 5 out of 8 games without the Cowboys' starting QB, Tony Romo.
Jones promises that Garrett will have the final say in Dallas; however, in 'Jerry-World', Mr. Jones reigns supreme.
Garret has proven himself as a leader, a good coach, and an honorable man, it is now up to him to leave his mark on the NFL and win a ring. Jerry Jones is and will be the man in Dallas, but if Garrett is the leader of men that he appears to be, I am sure that Mr. Jones will have no issues sharing the spotlight.
Jason Garrett, Mr. Jones, and to the entire Dallas Cowboys organization…Best of luck!
How 'Bout Them Cowboys!!
