New England Patriots @ Chicago Bears - 12/12/2010

Two weeks ago, the Bears ended Michael Vick's streak of passes without an interception at 238, more importantly they added to their win column with a 31-26 victory. This Sunday, they face the Patriots and Tom Brady, who has thrown 228 straight passes without a pick; although Vick is very talented, Brady’s determination, understanding of the game, team play, as well as one of the best coaches in the game, may make the task of getting another victory difficult for 'da Bears'.

The Patriots rarely commit turnovers, leading the league with the fewest turnovers, nine. This Sunday, fans will see how well Tom Brady and Bill Belichick’s attention to detail fairs against the fast and physical play of the Chicago defense; lead this year by veterans Julius Peppers, Lance Briggs, and Brian Urlacher. With the Bears tied for fourth in the NFL in forcing turnovers (26), there is high probability they may force New England into a turnover, although they did fail to make Detroit give the ball back last week.

Although Brady has far less mobility than Vick, let’s face it, he lacks the speed of most of the quarterbacks you can name, he still has the short-passing game at his disposal. If the Bears believe they can beat the Patriots by simply bringing the heat on every down, Brady will devour them underneath with Woodhead, Welker, as well as quick passes to his young tight ends, Gronkowski and Hernandez.

Although the Bears are on a five-game winning streak, they have had the pleasure of not facing an offense equipped with a strong passing game. Other than beating the Eagles, the bears have had an easy time with their opponent’s quarterbacks; they have beaten a third-string quarterback, Tyler Thigpen (Miami); Drew Stanton (Detroit); as well as Buffalo's Ryan Fitzpatrick, and not to take anything away from the future Hall-of-Famer, but the Brett Favre-led Vikings have not been up to par either.

With both the New England Patriots and the Chicago Bears trying to pick up a win on Sunday, both teams will be playing at full speed and with high octane. Since the Patriots’ defense is beginning to mesh, now attempting to play all four quarters, and the Bears’ defense continues to dominate, the play of both quarterbacks involved may be the deciding factor in this game.
