Let me say this…about that…if I can…and I think I can; I don’t know if you’ve seen it or care to see it, but I have to talk about this tripping incident. I mean C’mon Man, are you serious? Why in the entire world would any coach in their right man trip a player.
Yes, I know Bill Cowher has wanted to and Woody Hayes (Ohio State University ) punched an opposing team’s player on his sideline (1978 Ohio State vs. Clemson in the Gator Bowl) but to trip a player on national TV in the middle of a game is ridiculous. Not to forgive or let Coach Hayes off the hook, that’s just another story.
Well the Jets made the correct call and suspended their strength and conditioning coach, Sal Alosi, without pay. The suspension will include the playoffs; noted, as of now, he will not be receiving an envelope from the commissioner; however, he will receive one from his team, and it won’t be an early Christmas card, it’ll be a notice of a fine for $25,000 for his actions. His comment, My actions were inexcusable and irresponsible...ya think?
The beginning of the season promised that the Vikings, Chargers, and Bengals would all have great offenses…well one out of three ain’t bad. We also thought there would be a quarterback controversy in Philadelphia; however, I believe Mike Vick has put any doubts behind him; then we have Josh Daniels, Andre “Boom-Boom” Johnson, and last but not least, Jason Garret, whom we will definitely see more of in the future. However, where he ends up is still anyone’s guess; Mr. Jones (Jerry) enjoys the media and will keep us on the edge of our seats for that one.
With the start of week 15 upon us, we will see two teams, The Niners and The Chargers inSan Diego ; these two teams still have playoff hopes and dreams. Knowing that one, maybe two teams in the playoff this year may have a losing record does not bring me, as a fan, much encouragement; however, knowing these teams will be fighting til the end in order to make it to the playoffs does add a touch more excitement to my Sundays.
We will see what the rest of the season brings, I know you’ll be there…with all the on field, as well as off-field excitement, why would you want to miss a thing?
Tripping, kicking, spitting, and punching; we’ve seen it all this season; not to mention the fact that Brett Favre…missed a game? With three more weeks left in the season, we shall see which teams will kick and claw their way to the playoffs. No pun intended.
